Description

In case you didn't understand the title, this is a picture of Jesus's hand. I've had this picture in my head forever, and last night, I finally figured out how I wanted to put it down on paper. I didn't time myself on this one, but I think it took me over 5 hours to completely finish it. Like I said, this image has been floating in my head for a long time, and I just killed my art block last night. A few things have been going on in my house, and it caused an art block for me. That's why I haven't had a lot of new things lately.

Anyway, back to the picture. The rose is supposed to be black and red. The scanner sort of muddled it up a little, but it looks okay. The reason the stem is piercing the hand is because, duh, it represents one of the stakes from when He was nailed to the cross. Personally, I don't think the stakes went through Jesus's palms, but through His wrists. The reason it's going through the palm, however, is because I wanted Him holding the rose blossom up with His pinky finger and His thumb. The shading didn't show up really well in the hand, but it's just because of the scanner. It makes everything lighter than it really is on the piece of paper. I colored the rose in with colored pencils and tries to give it a soft look. I think I pretty much failed at that, but the color it good anyhow. I only colored the rose in to toss a little symbolism into this picture. The rose can also represent the world God created, and Jesus's death gave color and meaning to it.

Anywho, I'm very satisfied with this picture, and I didn't rate it mature because it's just a little blood, nothing more. I guess if I have anyone complain about it, I'll edit it and make it mature. *Shrugs* Hope you like it.
